In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.
Our life is the creation of our mind.
The Buddha
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

看不清楚是因为戴了有色眼镜(perception).
So how does perception begin to form in our mind?
Daniel Gilbert 在 Stumbling on Happiness 书中提到, 验究显示因为我们有 memory (we remember how we felt)所以才会有perception. We perceive things as we think they are. When we are doing this, the brain gets information from memory (past experience), visual perception (present experience) and visual imagination(prospection).
越说越觉得跟 Paticca Samuppada 有关...
hey, the quotation is not from me. it's from the Buddha as well. So Paiseh, u quote me pulak.
ReplyDeletehahahaha 好, 马上把你换下来 ;)
ReplyDeletethen how to see thing at its original..and how to know we are seeing its original..
ReplyDeleteLee Shia, I don't have an answer for your question as I'm still being conditioned by perception and memory.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is we cannot live without perception and memory (unless you're an arahant).
But, I think we can
- try to recognize to what extend we are limited by perception and memory.
- look closer and understand the nature of perception. It comes and goes. It's not substantial so don't cling too strong to our thoughts.
- try not to let your mind being fool around by thinking how things should be or should not be. 不让扁见做怪。
A questing and searching mind would help to minimize our perception. Always ask what's going on right now before reacting or responding to a situation.
So, what do you think we should do?
